Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Executive Director, Student Life and the Director, Health and Wellness Center:
- Provide care for acute medical illnesses and injuries, provide evaluation and treatment of common illnesses, skin concerns, women’s health, and specialty referrals.
- Provide onsite CLIA waived lab testing for strep, flu, covid, pregnancy, and perform EKG services.
- Provide treatment for both enrolled students and employed staff and faculty members.
- Provide health promotion programs and supportive services to promote the overall health and wellness of the STU community.
- Partner with various campus departments and community-based agencies, faculty, staff, and families to coordinate and oversee all students’ needs, including the referral process to emergency services, community health agencies, and social services.
- Oversee the student medical insurance program to ensure compliance with STU policies.
- Monitor the immunization/health form process to ensure compliance with STU policies.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the nurse practitioner for all currently enrolled students and employees at STU.
- Administer and coordinate healthcare resources and activities including emergency, acute medical illnesses and injuries, evaluation and treatment of common illnesses, skin concerns, women’s health, and specialty referrals.
- Provide onsite CLIA waived lab testing for strep, flu, covid, pregnancy, and perform EKG services.
- Establish and maintain productive and effective working relationships with campus-based and other essential local, regional, and national community-based agencies.
- Establish collaborative relationships with assigned academic, athletic, and other affiliates on campus to increase student access and awareness of overall personal wellness and health care services.
- Participate in determining conditions, resources, and policies to sound healthcare of college-aged patients.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain positive and professional relationships with immediate staff, university personnel, and community partners.
- Provide information on student health awareness, programming, and prevention to prospective students to include health insurance information, website updates and promotional materials.
- Maintain confidential recordkeeping system and document all services, case histories or critical incidents; produces data in a manner designed to ensure privacy.
- Maintain clinical competency and keep informed of current trends and developments and related medical progress through continuing education (CEU’s) and review of literature.
- Oversee the student medical insurance and immunization/health form processes.
- Serve on the university’s behavioral assessment committee (CARE) and other workgroups as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS:
Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):
- MSN or DNP required.
- Certified APRN, ACNP, or equivalent licensure or certification.
- Three years experience working with college-age students, preferably in a high school or higher education environment.
- Must have licensure and certification within the state of Florida and maintain licensure and certification.
- Experience providing medical care for acute and common illnesses.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with student-patients, colleagues, and families.
- Good clinical judgement; critical thinking, analytical problem-solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care.
- Experience in developing, facilitating, and supervising student peer educators’ programs.
- Ability to maintain confidential information with the utmost discretion and sensitivity (Title IX, FERPA, HIPAA).
- Valid driver’s license.
