RRT Per Diem - Off-site Emergency Department

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Scheduled Weekly Hours: TBD Work Shift: 7am-7pm Summary of the Job: Responsible for the performance of all therapeutic and diagnostic procedures available through the respiratory department with complete understanding of the equipment, supplies, indications, and contraindications for use, and physiological effects upon the patient. Minimum Qualifications: Successful completion of an CoARC approved school of Respiratory Care. Current certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered or Certified Respiratory Therapist. Current license by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as a Licensed Respiratory Therapist. Current license by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as a Laboratory Assistant. Laboratory Assistant License can and must be applied for upon verification of competency for testing to be performed with the expectation it is obtained within 90 days of hire. Current BLS and ALS certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off. PALS and NRP certifications required within 1 year of hire. Basic computer skills, effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally. Physical Demands: Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise. Physical Effort required: Constant (67%-100%) - talking, hearing, seeing Frequently (34%-66%)- stooping, crouching, reaching, handling/feeling Occasionally (1%-33%)- lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), balancing EMPLOYMENT Each St. Tammany Health System staff member is expected to conduct himself or herself according to our mission, vision and values.
