St. Stephens United Methodist Church in Norman is hiring for 2 Sunday morning nursery staff. Sunday mornings from 815 am until after 2nd service is over approximately 1215 pm. Starting pay is $14 an hour.
Key Responsibilities:
- Childcare and Supervision:
Providing age-appropriate care, including diapering, feeding, toileting, and ensuring a safe environment.
- Interaction and Engagement:
Playing with, reading to, and interacting with children, engaging them in age-appropriate activities like songs, stories, and crafts.
- Safety and Well-being:
Monitoring children's behavior, ensuring their safety, and adhering to nursery policies.
- Nursery Maintenance:
Maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming nursery space before, during, and after services.
- Parent Communication:
Greeting parents, overseeing the check-in/check-out process, and communicating with parents regarding their children's needs.
- Following Protocols:
Adhering to universal precautions, including hand hygiene, when changing diapers or assisting with bodily fluids.
- Collaboration:
Working with other nursery staff and ministry leaders to provide a cohesive and supportive environment for children and families.
- Other Duties:
May be assigned additional duties as needed, such as setting up equipment or assisting with special events.
Qualifications:
- Love for Children:
A genuine passion for working with young children and providing them with a positive and nurturing environment.
- Experience:
Experience caring for infants and toddlers is preferred, but not always required.
- Patience and Positivity:
A calm, patient, and positive demeanor is essential for working with children.
- Physical and Emotional Well-being:
Must be able to handle physical demands and emotional stress associated with childcare.
- Background Check:
Must pass a background check and adhere to the church's child protection policy.
- Commitment:
Commitment to the church's mission and values is important.
