Responsibilities
- Design and deliver comprehensive chemistry lessons aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating laboratory experiments, demonstrations, and interactive activities.
- Prepare students for the New York State Chemistry Regents Exams.
- Teach a section of health.
- Develop and adapt lesson plans to accommodate various learning styles and cultural backgrounds, ensuring all students can access and engage with scientific content.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a safe, respectful, and motivating learning environment for teenagers.
- Integrate educational technology tools and IT-enabled resources into lessons to enhance student understanding and engagement.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including standardized tests, quizzes, lab reports, and project work.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional strategies, and school-wide initiatives to improve science education quality.
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, supporting their personal growth and fostering interest in scientific careers.
- Maintain compliance with educational regulations and standards while ensuring safety protocols are followed during laboratory activities such as dissection or microbiology experiments.
- Engage in professional development opportunities related to science research, instructional design, classroom management, and new teaching methodologies.

- Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Science Education or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.
- Proven experience teaching high school science subjects with a focus on chemistry; prior middle school or private school experience is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of chemistry topics including organic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, microbiology, and differential equations.
- Proficiency in curriculum development, lesson planning, laboratory techniques (dissection included), and research laboratory experience.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage teenagers from diverse cultural backgrounds while managing classroom dynamics confidently.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt lessons for different learning styles and provide differentiated instruction.
- Experience working with standardized testing procedures and academic advising is desirable.
- Knowledge of educational compliance regulations related to science instruction and safety protocols during laboratory activities.
- Certification in 9-12 Science is preferred.
Pay: $58,359.23 - $70,282.08 per year
