Saint Peter School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Science and Technology Teacher to inspire and educate students in grades 5-8. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work in a supportive faith-based environment while fostering scientific curiosity and technological literacy in our middle school students.
Position Overview:The successful candidate will teach science to grades 5-8 using our well-equipped, dedicated science laboratory space and the Savvas Elevate science curriculum. Additionally, this role includes teaching technology classes to the same grade levels once per week using the CyberCivics program, providing students with essential digital citizenship skills and technological literacy.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver engaging science instruction for grades 5-8 using the Savvas Elevate curriculum, covering topics in life science, earth science, physical science, and introductory chemistry and physics
- Utilize hands-on laboratory experiments and investigations to enhance student learning and complement curriculum materials
- Teach weekly technology classes using CyberCivics curriculum, focusing on digital citizenship, online safety, research skills, and responsible technology use
- Maintain and organize science lab equipment and materials
- Assess student progress through various methods including lab reports, projects, and traditional assessments
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate science and technology concepts across the curriculum
- Participate in school events, parent conferences, and professional development opportunities
- Support the school's Catholic mission and values
- Bachelor's degree in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science, or related field
- Experience teaching middle school science preferred
- Familiarity with Savvas Elevate science curriculum or willingness to learn
- Knowledge of digital citizenship concepts and comfort with CyberCivics program or similar technology curricula
- Knowledge of current science education standards and best practices
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
