What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Care Lead Teacher position at St. Paul the Apostle School?
St. Paul the Apostle is seeking a lead teacher to join our summer care program team for the 2026 season. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy working with children and want to gain hands-on experience in a childcare or elementary educational setting.

Schedule
Start date: June 1st (beginning with training)
Start with students: June 8th
Mid-Summer break: July 6th - July 10th
End Date: August 13th
Shift: Monday-Thursday 7:30am-5:30pm (40 hours/wk)
General Responsibilities
The duties of the summer care lead teacher include but are not limited to:
● Lead fun, educational, and age-appropriate games, crafts, and activities in partnership with a co-lead teacher
● Fosters positive relationships with children by providing emotional support, encouragement, and guidance
● Assists children with conflict resolution and developing self-control
● Assists in managing behavior by using positive reinforcement techniques and redirecting as necessary
● Ensures a clean and organized environment, including cleaning up after activities and maintaining a safe space for play
● Attends weekly field trips with school age students and maintains the safety of the students off campus
Candidates must meet the following qualifications:
● Over 18 years old
● Has a drivers license
● Has 1 year experience working with children
● Has the ability to multitask and stay patient in an active environment
● CPR and First Aid Certified or willingness to be trained (employer will pay for training)
● Blood Borne Pathogens training (employer will organize training if not yet trained)
● Must have or willing to take Virtus – Protecting God’s Children Training (employer will organize training if not yet trained)
● Must have or willing to take Child Care Licensing Health and Safety Training (employer will organize training if not yet trained)
