Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Planning & Delivery: Develops and implements engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with district/state curriculum standards.
Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interest, and abilities of the students.
Implements and supports the development of a rigorous science program that develops scholars as problem solvers and analytical thinkers who apply science concepts to their everyday lives.
Courses Taught:
Grade 6 Earth Science
Grade 7 Physical Science
Grade 8 Life Science and Religion
Classroom Management: Establishes and enforces classroom rules and procedures to foster a positive, organized learning environment.
Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students where student-voice is encouraged and scientific discourse is valued.
Assessment & Evaluation: Assesses student academic and social progress, maintains, and updates accurate records (attendance, grades, report cards).
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of established school curriculum goals, establishes and communicates clear objectives to the students for all lessons, units and projects.
Utilize formal and informal assessment data to drive instruction and ensure student mastery of standards.
Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis; provides progress reports/report cards as required, and communicates with parents as deemed necessary.
Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
Differentiation: Adapts teaching methods and materials to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.
Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media.
Communication: Communicates regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, and collaborates with staff to support student needs.
Supervision & Support: Supervises students during classroom hours and non-classroom activities (recess, lunch, assemblies).
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Professionalism: Attends staff meetings, professional development workshops, and school events.
Actively participate in grade-level meetings, collaborative planning, and professional development.
Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field.
Certification: Valid state certification/licensure to teach elementary education.
Skills: Strong communication, patience, creativity, organizational skills, and proficiency in technology (e.g., smartboards, virtual learning tools).
