Job Description: Part-Time Director of Hispanic Ministry
Position Type: Part-Time (15 hours per week)
Reports To: Pastor
Overview:
St. Patrick Catholic Church is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to serve as the Part-Time Director of Hispanic Ministry. This position is vital in fostering a vibrant community where Hispanic parishioners can thrive spiritually, culturally, and socially. The Director will collaborate with clergy, staff, and community members to enhance faith formation, outreach, and community engagement within the Hispanic community.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Vision:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive vision for Hispanic Ministry that aligns with the mission of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
- Lead and inspire volunteers and parishioners to actively participate in ministry activities and church life.
2. Faith Formation:
- Design, coordinate, and facilitate programs and classes that promote spiritual growth, including catechesis, sacramental preparation, and Bible studies.
- Organize and lead retreats, workshops, and other faith-building activities tailored to the Hispanic community.
3. Cultural Engagement:
- Promote the integration of Hispanic cultural traditions and celebrations within the church, such as Día de los Muertos, Las Posadas, and other significant events.
- Host events that highlight and celebrate Hispanic heritage, fostering a sense of belonging and community.
4. Outreach and Community Service:
- Collaborate with local organizations to identify and address the needs of the Hispanic community through service projects and outreach initiatives.
- Facilitate opportunities for parishioners to engage in social justice efforts and community service.
5. Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with the Pastor and church staff to ensure that the needs of the Hispanic community are represented and addressed within the broader church context.
- Develop effective communication strategies to keep the Hispanic community informed and engaged with church events and activities.
6. Volunteer Development:
- Recruit, train, and mentor volunteers to assist in various ministries and initiatives, empowering them to take on leadership roles within the community.
- Foster a spirit of teamwork and collaboration among volunteers and ministry participants.
7. Administrative Duties:
- Manage the budget and resources for Hispanic Ministry, ensuring responsible stewardship of funds and materials.
- Maintain accurate records of ministry participation and activities for accountability and evaluation purposes.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Social Work, or a related field preferred; or equivalent experience in parish ministry.
- Bilingual Proficiency: Fluent in Spanish and English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience: Prior experience in ministry leadership, community outreach, or related roles within a Catholic context, especially working with Hispanic communities.
- Cultural Competency:
Strong understanding of Hispanic culture, traditions, and the ability to engage with diverse populations within the community.
- Personal Qualities:
A committed Catholic with a deep faith and a genuine passion for ministry, along with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
Work Environment:
The Part-Time Director of Hispanic Ministry will work primarily within the church office but will also participate in community outreach events, meetings, and pastoral visits. Flexibility in work hours may be required to accommodate evening or weekend events.
