Bergan Catholic Early Childhood Education Center

Reports to: Director, Bergan Catholic Early Childhood Education Center

Position Status: Exempt: Full-Time

Salary: $40,000 annually

The Assistant Director assists the Director in providing leadership for the Bergan Catholic Early Childhood Education Center by supporting the Center's spiritual mission, daily operations, staff supervision, licensing compliance, and family engagement. This position helps ensure a safe, nurturing, and faith-filled environment for children, families, and employees while promoting excellence in early childhood education. The Assistant Director assumes leadership responsibilities in the Director's absence and works collaboratively with school leadership to support the mission of Archbishop Bergan Catholic Schools.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESSpiritual

  • Serves as a daily role model committed to the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church.
  • Supports and promotes the philosophy of Catholic education throughout the Center.
  • Models Christian values through interactions with children, families, staff, and visitors.
  • Encourages a positive, respectful, and faith-centered culture within the Center.

Administrative

  • Assists the Director with the daily operation of the Early Childhood Education Center.
  • Oversees daily staffing assignments to maintain appropriate teacher-to-child ratios and licensing compliance.
  • Assists with scheduling, staff coverage, and classroom support.
  • Helps maintain licensing records and documentation required by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Assists with monitoring health, safety, sanitation, and security procedures throughout the Center.
  • Supports enrollment processes including tours, registrations, and family orientation.
  • Responds to parent concerns and assists with conflict resolution in a professional and timely manner.
  • Assumes responsibility for Center operations in the absence of the Director.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by the Director or School President.

Curriculum & Personnel

  • Supports teachers in implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with Nebraska Early Learning Guidelines and the mission of Bergan Catholic Schools.
  • Provides coaching, mentoring, and daily support to teaching staff.
  • Assists with onboarding and training new employees.
  • Participates in staff observations, evaluations, and professional development planning.
  • Helps ensure compliance with licensing regulations, accreditation standards, and Center policies.
  • Promotes positive classroom management practices and supports teachers in addressing challenging behaviors.
  • Encourages teamwork, collaboration, and professional growth among all employees.

Family & Community Relations

  • Builds positive relationships with children, families, parish members, and community partners.
  • Assists in implementing family engagement activities and special events.
  • Supports marketing and enrollment efforts through tours, community outreach, and social media collaboration.
  • Communicates effectively with families regarding Center programs, policies, and child development.
  • Represents Bergan Catholic Early Childhood Education Center in a professional and welcoming manner.

Leadership

  • Demonstrates strong leadership while maintaining a collaborative, servant-leadership approach.
  • Supports implementation of the Center's goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Assists in developing procedures that promote operational efficiency and quality care.
  • Uses sound judgment and problem-solving skills to address daily operational challenges.
  • Promotes continuous quality improvement throughout the Center.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • CDA, Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a licensed early childhood program.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Must meet all Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services licensing requirements.
  • Must meet all Archdiocese of Omaha Safe Environment requirements.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and actively supervise children throughout the day.
  • Ability to respond quickly during emergencies.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Pay: $40,000.00 per year
