Position Summary
The part time Music Teacher/Liturgical Music Coordinator is responsible for fostering a love of music, worship, and performance in students while supporting the Catholic mission and identity of the school. This individual will provide engaging music instruction for elementary and middle school students, direct the school choir, and accompany students musically during weekly Family Masses, school liturgies, concerts, and special events.
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, organized, faith-filled, and committed to helping students grow musically while deepening their participation in the liturgical life of the school.
Essential Responsibilities
Music Instruction
Plan and implement an engaging standards-based music curriculum for students in grades PreK–8 (or applicable grade levels).
Teach foundational music concepts including rhythm, melody, vocal technique, music appreciation, performance skills, and age-appropriate music literacy.
Foster creativity, confidence, and appreciation for music through singing, movement, instruments, and performance opportunities.
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs.
Choir & Performance Leadership
Direct and rehearse the school choir and/or student vocal ensembles.
Prepare students for school concerts, performances, seasonal celebrations, and community events.
Coordinate music selections that are developmentally appropriate and aligned with school values.
Liturgical Music Responsibilities
Accompany and direct the school choir during weekly school and Sunday family Masses that the choir will be participating in.
Collaborate with school administration, clergy, and campus ministry staff to select appropriate liturgical music aligned with the Church calendar and liturgical seasons.
Prepare students to actively and reverently participate in Mass through song.
Coordinate and provide music for holy days, prayer services, Advent, Christmas, Lent, Catholic Schools Week, graduation, and other special liturgical celebrations.
Serve as accompanist (piano and/or keyboard preferred) for student vocal performances and worship experiences.
Collaboration & Communication
Communicate effectively with families regarding performances, rehearsals, and expectations.
Collaborate with faculty to integrate music into school events and interdisciplinary activities.
Maintain a positive, welcoming classroom environment that reflects Catholic values and supports student growth.
Classroom Management & Professional Expectations
Establish clear expectations for student behavior and participation.
Maintain organized lesson plans, materials, and performance schedules.
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school community events as requested.
Support and uphold the mission, philosophy, and Catholic identity of the school.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or related field preferred.
Experience teaching elementary and/or middle school music preferred.
Ability to accompany choir singing on piano/keyboard or guitar.
Experience with liturgical music and familiarity with Catholic Mass structure preferred.
Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, clergy, and families.
Practicing Catholic preferred (or willingness to support and uphold Catholic teachings and mission).

School-day teaching responsibilities - Part time ( 2-3 days per week)
