Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Upholsterer for project-based contract work in Easton, MD. Initial work includes custom upholstered seating, with potential for additional projects if the fit is right.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, communicates clearly, and can deliver clean, professional work without constant supervision. This role is best suited for someone dependable, detail-oriented, and experienced in measuring, cutting, fitting, sewing, and finishing upholstery for custom applications.
Pay: Piecemeal/By project, depending on experience, quality of work, and ability to work independently.
Duties
- Measure, cut, sew, fit, and assemble upholstery materials for custom seating and related work
- Review dimensions and verify fit before fabrication
- Repair or build upholstered components with clean, professional results
- Use hand tools and upholstery equipment safely and effectively
- Recommend appropriate materials, foam, and upholstery methods when needed
- Maintain a clean and organized work process
- Communicate clearly about timing, progress, and any issues that affect the job
- Deliver finished work that is neat, durable, and ready for client use
Qualifications
- Prior upholstery experience required
- Strong skills with upholstery tools, sewing equipment, and fitting techniques
- Experience with custom seating, benches, cushions, or built-in upholstered work preferred
- Strong attention to detail and finish quality
- Able to work from dimensions, drawings, or existing conditions
- Dependable, responsive, and able to meet agreed deadlines
- Able to work independently and solve practical problems in the field or shop
- Photos of past upholstery work are required to be considered
