Hours: 7:30 - 3:30, Monday - Friday

Job Summary

St. Michael’s Early Childhood Program is looking for a caring, nurturing, and enthusiastic early childhood Teacher to join our team! Our teachers play an important role in supporting each child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. We believe in creating meaningful learning experiences that encourage curiosity, build confidence, and help children develop a strong sense of belonging within our community.

We are looking for someone who genuinely loves working with young children, values building relationships with families, and enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team. The ideal candidate is patient, dependable, flexible, and excited to be part of a nurturing early childhood program.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children feel secure, valued, and encouraged to explore.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that support each child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
• Provide attentive, responsive care, including feeding, diapering, assisting with naps, and maintaining each child’s overall health and well-being.
• Build positive relationships with children and families through consistent care, communication, and support.
• Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s daily activities, development, milestones, and any concerns.
• Support positive behavior through gentle guidance, consistency, and age-appropriate expectations.
• Observe and document children’s development, interests, and daily routines.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
• Work collaboratively with fellow teachers and administration to provide a consistent, thoughtful, and positive experience for children and families.
• Follow all program policies and procedures, including health, safety, supervision, and emergency protocols.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and ongoing efforts to strengthen our program.

Qualifications

• Experience working with infants, toddlers, and/or preschool-aged children is strongly preferred.
• A basic understanding of child development and age-appropriate early childhood practices.
• CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification.
• A warm, patient, and nurturing approach to working with young children.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Dependability, flexibility, and the ability to work well as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain a safe, organized, and positive classroom environment.
• A willingness to learn, grow professionally, and contribute to a supportive school community.
