Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Laboratory Technical Coordinator you will be a pivotal leader in clinical laboratory operations, overseeing laboratory personnel and processes across one or more sections. You'll ensure strict adherence to quality and compliance standards, providing essential technical and scientific oversight. This role is key to maintaining the integrity and accuracy of our laboratory services, supporting critical diagnostic functions within our healthcare system. Your expertise will directly impact patient care by upholding the highest standards in laboratory testing and personnel competency.


Every day you will coach laboratory teams on ethical practices and policy adherence, managing daily operations, and making crucial operational decisions. You'll analyze and interpret laboratory results, administer inventory, and contribute to the selection and verification of cutting-edge test methodologies. A significant part of your routine will involve implementing and maintaining robust quality control programs, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring comprehensive staff training and competency evaluation to guarantee precise and timely reporting of patient test results.


To be successful in this role, you will possess a Bachelor's of Science in a chemical or biological science (as defined by CLIA) and at least two years of clinical lab experience in a designated specialty area. You will be a skilled multi-tasker, clear communicator, and active listener, adept at understanding team needs and managing workloads. Your ability to analyze data, coordinate tasks, and maintain strong professional communication will be essential. Relevant certifications in areas such as Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP-IMLS), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), or similar, are preferred to excel in this dynamic and critical laboratory leadership position.

 

  • Coaches laboratory personnel to train for adherence to relevant policies and ethics
  • Oversees most laboratory day-to-day operations and exercises authority over operational decisions
  • Analyzes and interprets laboratory results in accordance with established laboratory work processes
  • Administers laboratory inventories such as supplies, equipment and consumables
  • Assists with selection of test methodology that is appropriate for the laboratory use of the test results
  • Verification of the test procedures performed and establishment of the laboratory's test performance characteristics, including the precision and accuracy of each test and test system
