Role Description The Payroll Specialist is a full-time, on-site role located in North Brunswick, NJ, responsible for managing end-to-end payroll operations for school staff. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and processing regular payroll cycles, maintaining accurate employee records, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. The role involves calculating wages, overtime, and adjustments; handling garnishments; and coordinating with payroll service providers as needed. The Payroll Specialist will also review and verify timekeeping data, reconcile payroll reports, and respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and benefits-related payroll questions. Collaboration with HR and administration will be required to support audits, year-end reporting, and continuous process improvements.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in Payroll Administration and Payroll Processing, including managing regular cycles and adjustments.
- Experience with Payroll Taxes and Garnishments, with the ability to ensure accurate calculations and regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with Payroll Services and related systems or software used to support payroll operations.
- Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and organizational skills in a confidential work environment.
- Ability to interpret and apply payroll regulations and school policies, and to resolve payroll issues promptly.
- Effective communication skills to work with staff at all levels and provide clear, respectful support on payroll matters.
- Experience in an educational or nonprofit setting is beneficial; prior school payroll experience is a plus.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
