Job Requisition: RNHEA001231
Employment Type: Full-Time
Shift: Days
Hours Per Week: 40 hours

Hiring Range: Starting at $36.67/Hourly

The actual compensation for this position will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

Responsibilities:

Clinical Triage & Assessment:

  • Perform telephone and in-person triage for patients presenting with GYN-related concerns (e.g., abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain, STI symptoms, contraception issues, menopause concerns, yeast infections, and bacterial vaginosis).
  • Assess early pregnancy–related symptoms—including suspected early pregnancy, light to moderate bleeding, abdominal or pelvic pain, possible pregnancy loss, and warning signs of ectopic pregnancy—providing sensitive, trauma-informed guidance and determining appropriate care disposition.
  • Assess symptom severity and determine appropriate disposition based on clinical guidelines and organizational standards of care.
  • Provide evidence-based advice on self-care, warning signs, emergency symptoms, and follow-up needs.
  • Escalate urgent or emergent concerns to providers or emergency services when appropriate.

Care Coordination:

  • Coordinate urgent and routine GYN appointments, diagnostic testing, and follow-up care.
  • Communicate provider orders, lab results, imaging results, and treatment plans to patients.
  • Assist with medication refills, contraception management, and pre-/post-procedure instructions.
  • Support care pathways for services such as IUD insertion, colposcopy, LEEP, infertility evaluations, and peri-/post-operative care.
  • Facilitate proper emergency department (ED) handoff for patients requiring higher-level evaluation, ensuring accurate communication of clinical findings and concerns.
  • Schedule appropriate follow-up visits, determining when evaluation is suitable for a mid-level provider versus requiring an MD appointment.
  • Once a viable pregnancy is determined, complete a warm handoff to the prenatal coordinator to ensure seamless transition into prenatal care.

Peri-/Post-Operative Care:

  • Provide comprehensive pre-operative support, including patient preparation and counseling.
  • Assess post-operative complications and patient-reported concerns to ensure timely intervention.
  • Deliver clear, evidence-based post-operative instructions to promote safe recovery.
  • Conduct follow-up assessments after major procedures to evaluate healing, symptom changes, and ongoing care needs.

Patient Education & Support:

  • Educate patients on GYN health topics including menstrual health, STI prevention, contraception options, menopause, and reproductive wellness.
  • Provide compassionate support for sensitive issues such as abnormal Pap results, sexual health concerns, reproductive planning, and early pregnancy concerns.
  • Ensure patients understand when to seek emergency care for symptoms such as heavy bleeding, severe pain, or signs of infection.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Document all triage encounters accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Follow HIPAA requirements and organizational protocols.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives focused on women’s health and patient safety.
  • Stay current on GYN clinical guidelines, including STI treatment updates, Pap/HPV screening recommendations, and contraceptive counseling standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience in OB/GYN or reproductive health triage.
