Job Title: Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Teacher *NEW* 3/6/26
Remsen St. Mary’s Schools is seeking a caring, energetic, and creative Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Teacher to join our faculty for the 2026–2027 school year. The TK program is designed for young learners who benefit from an additional year to grow academically, socially, and emotionally before entering kindergarten.
The ideal candidate will create a nurturing classroom environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and a love of learning while helping students develop foundational skills in early literacy, math readiness, and social development.
Primary Responsibilities
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons that support early learning and kindergarten readiness
- Foster a positive classroom environment that promotes social-emotional growth, cooperation, and confidence
- Introduce foundational skills in early literacy, numeracy, fine motor development, and problem solving
- Incorporate play-based learning, hands-on activities, music, movement, and creative exploration
- Integrate Catholic values and faith formation into daily classroom experiences
- Monitor student development and communicate progress regularly with parents
- Collaborate with kindergarten and elementary teachers to support a smooth transition into kindergarten
- Participate in school Masses, service projects, and community events
Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field required.
- Iowa teaching license (or ability to obtain one).
- Experience working with early childhood or primary-age students preferred.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Catholic education.
Schedule is Monday-Friday (7:30 am-3:30 pm). Salary competitive and DOE. Reports to the principal.
