Summary Maintains, plans layout, installs, repairs, adjusts and calibrates Plant Electrical and Plant instrument/emissions monitoring equipment for operation as needed. Every employee is expected to promote a safe work environment and safe job performance by actively participating in all plant safety programs as directed by the Management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Plan and complete electrical and instrumentation installations, repairs, modifications and maintenance as needed and consistent with maintenance schedules.
  • Ability to use digital multimeters/calibrators to troubleshoot issue with field instruments
  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot various plant standards, specifications, NEC and local electrical codes and control networks.
  • Ability to use computer(s) to troubleshoot and program plant control devices, as well as data entry.
  • Read, understand, and follow written Electrical and Instrumentational manuals and instructions.
  • Complete corrective, planned and predictive electrical maintenance programs on plant electrical power and lighting, grounding and control systems.
  • Complete corrective, planned and predictive electrical maintenance programs on plant computers, instruments, communication, and control systems.
  • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, and installs electrical conduit systems.
  • Understand and use the National Electric Code.
  • Be capable of working on 24, 120, 208, 240, 480 and 4160 volt electrical systems.
  • Use a computer for troubleshooting, information and data entry.
  • Follow electrical safety standards while performing electrical tasks.
  • Keeps records on repair and calibration of instruments as needed for local, state and federal compliance.
  • Possess the ability to provide direction to lower level Electrical and Instrument classifications.
  • Must be able to plan, organize, coordinate and communicate with regard to work performed.
  • Familiarity with items such as thermocouples, RTDs, weigh scales, process meters, and other process control devices along with gas analysis equipment and all connected tubing, wiring, etc.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks to comply with a clean and safe work environment.

Education and/or Experience
Electrical Technical School Certificate and/or equivalent. Must hold a State of Michigan Masters or Journeyman license. Willing to attend off-site training courses.

Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with abstract reasoning to solve problems.

Must have sufficient ability to comprehend instruction, follow sequential work assignments and work independently without supervision or with other employees as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

Salary : $54,746 - $78,531
