We are seeking a dedicated Full-Time Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for food preparation, excellent kitchen skills, and experience in high-volume food production. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a vibrant community by preparing nutritious and appealing meals while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and sanitation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of meals according to established recipes, menus, and dietary guidelines, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including grills, braising tools, poaching appliances, and other culinary devices.
- Assist with menu planning by contributing ideas that meet nutritional standards and resident preferences.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety protocols, sanitizing all surfaces and utensils regularly to prevent contamination.
- Support dietary department needs by understanding dietary restrictions and assisting with meal modifications as required.
- Participate in food handling procedures, ensuring proper storage, portioning, and presentation of all dishes.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure high-volume production goals are met in a timely manner while maintaining excellent service standards.
Experience
- Previous experience as a dietary aide or cook within a healthcare or retirement community setting is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated skills in food preparation techniques such as braising, grilling, poaching, and general cooking methods.
- Knowledge of food safety management practices, including sanitizing procedures and proper food handling protocols.
- Experience with menu planning and recipe adherence to ensure consistency across meals.
- Familiarity with operating commercial kitchen equipment in high-volume environments is preferred.
- Background in fine dining or restaurant settings can enhance culinary expertise but is not required.
- Strong knife skills and proficiency in food production processes are essential for success in this role.
