St. Mary’s is a 229-bed, acute care hospital located in Enid, OK. St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center has served the healthcare needs of northwest Oklahoma for more than 100 years. We host more than 125 highly skilled physicians offering specialties in Cardiology, Neurology, Orthopedics, Emergency Medicine, Rehabilitation, Laboratory, Women’s Imaging, Wound Care, and more.
Position Summary:
Performs phlebotomy for collection of blood specimens throughout the medical center. Maintains specimen collection component of the LIS. Performs patient registration functions for courier specimens.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates proficiency in phlebotomy and specimen collection using appropriate collection techniques and devices as appropriate for age of patient.
- Demonstrates safe handling and proper collection techniques to maintain integrity and quality of specimens
- Demonstrates correct procedure for labeling, accessioning, and delivering specimens to the proper department.
- Responds promptly to phlebotomy requests for STATs, ASAPs, NOWs and outpatients, with a supportive and cooperative attitude.
- Communicates information to appropriate areas, departments and individuals. Alerts appropriate staff concerning STAT orders.
Requirements:
- High school graduate or GED required.
- Phlebotomy certification (CPT) or health-related experience preferred. On-the-job training may be given.
- Good interpersonal skills required.
- Typing and basic computer skills required.
