Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) - Grant Funded

The BCBA engages children and adolescents admitted to in-patient care at St. Mary’s Hospital for Children with complex medical conditions and comorbid intellectual disability ranging from mild to profound and/or mild or major neurocognitive disorders. Responsible for developing behavioral interventions to support children’s developmental skill acquisition, motivation, participation, and toleration of medical care and rehabilitation, as well as to reduce problem behaviors or other psychological factors interfering with their treatment plan and/or adjustment to the hospital.

JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Conducts and supervises Functional Behavioral Assessments and develops Behavioral Intervention Plans.
• Conducts skills assessments (e.g., ABLLS-R, VB-MAPP, etc.) and develops skill acquisition treatment plans.
• Develops treatment plans based on the principles of ABA to address challenging behavior, communication, social skills, independent living skills, feeding, etc.
• Works as a member of the unit based interdisciplinary team to address behavioral issues to maximize child’s engagement in rehabilitation and/or other therapeutic interventions.
• Analyzes goals and behavioral represented data and interprets for treatment planning.
• Provides written reports and documentation based on treatment provisions.
• Utilization of programs for data collection and EMR as requested
• Assists in the development, coordination and implementation of patient and staff support programs throughout the facility.
• Provides treatment according to the patient's care plan, documenting treatment outcomes in the patient's medical record.
• Provides in service training to staff and training to parents and other family members.
• Updates treatment plans, when necessary
• Designs data collection systems and analyzes data to evaluate the progress of clients.
• Interprets child’s behavior and educates/supports unit-based care team in maximizing consistent positive behavioral and psychological responses to child.
• Participates in Family Meetings, Comprehensive Care Conferences and patient care meetings.
• Collaborates with parents and family members, related service providers, and medical providers to promote best outcomes for individuals with autism or other neurocognitive disorders.
• Plans activities that will make learning fun for children with autism or other neurocognitive disorders.

Formal education required:

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education or a related field
• BCBA or BCBA-D required

Previous experience required:

• At least 3 years of experience working with individuals with autism or related developmental disabilities
• Knowledge and experience in developing and implementing Behavioral Intervention Plans for individuals with challenging behavior
• Knowledge and experience in developing and implementing skill acquisition treatment plans for individuals with autism or other neurocognitive disorders.
