Job Summary
The Facilities Sanitation Associate at St. Mary's Food Bank in Surprise, AZ is responsible for maintaining the internal and external appearance of the facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in a custodian/sanitation role, with a focus on building cleanliness and attention to detail. This position requires working Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm.
Responsibilities
- Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by taking out trash, tidying furniture, and dusting surfaces.
- Clean and supply designated areas, including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and cleaning restrooms.
- Wash and disinfect toilets, sinks, and replenish disposables.
- Wipe/disinfect mirrors, windows, and doors.
- Document routine cleaning and maintenance needs.
- Perform heavy cleansing tasks and special projects.
- Notify management of deficiencies or repair needs.
- Stock and maintain supply areas.
- Cooperate with the rest of the staff.
- Follow all health and safety regulations.
- Perform other duties and administrative functions as assigned.
Physical Demands/Environment Factors
- Stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shifts,
- Lifting up to 30 pounds
- Able to tolerate loud noises in the warehouse setting
- Required PPE Foot Protection that complies with ANSI or ASTM rating (Steel toe or composite toe with slip resistant sole). After completion of 90 days post hired date employee will be eligible for a shoe voucher to SMFB preferred shoe vendor.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in custodial/housekeeping roles.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Attention to detail and conscientiousness.
- Ability to operate floor scrubbers and pallet jacks.
- Capability to lift/move 50 lbs.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
- Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets.
- Integrity and ability to work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good planning and organizational abilities.
- Basic knowledge of safe food handling procedures.
