Position Type: Part-Time (10 hours/week, $20/hour)
Position Overview
St. Marks United Methodist Church is seeking a creative, dependable, and detail-oriented Technology & Audio/Visual Director to oversee the technical aspects of worship and ministry communication. This position plays an important role in creating an excellent worship experience by ensuring that sound, video, lighting, livestreaming, and other technology systems function effectively and consistently.
The Technology & Audio/Visual Director will work closely with church staff and volunteers to support worship services, special events, and ongoing ministry needs through the effective use of technology.
Schedule
· Approximately 10 hours per week
· 5 hours on Sunday mornings (worship preparation, service, and follow-up)
· 5 flexible hours during the week for equipment maintenance, preparation, training, and other technology needs
Primary ResponsibilitiesWorship Technology Leadership
· Manage and oversee all technical aspects of Sunday morning worship services, including:
o Audio/sound engineering
o Livestream production
o Visual media and presentation elements
o Lighting systems
o Video and camera operations
o Other technical needs that support worship and ministry
· Ensure a consistent, high-quality worship experience for both in-person and online participants.
· Troubleshoot technical issues and respond to unexpected technology needs.
Livestream & Digital Ministry
· Maintain and improve the quality of St. Marks’ livestream worship experience.
· Manage streaming platforms and ensure reliability of online worship content.
· Assist in maintaining the quality and functionality of church digital platforms as needed.
Equipment Management
· Maintain, organize, and care for all audio/visual and technology equipment.
· Identify equipment needs, recommend improvements, and assist with future technology planning.
· Keep systems updated, functional, and ready for use.
Volunteer Coordination & Training
· Recruit, schedule, train, and support worship technology volunteers.
· Create a positive and welcoming environment for volunteers serving in technical roles.
· Provide guidance and resources to help volunteers confidently operate equipment.
Communication & Collaboration
· Work collaboratively with the pastor, worship leaders, staff, and ministry teams.
· Assist with special services, events, and other church gatherings requiring technical support.
· Communicate clearly regarding technology needs, challenges, and improvements.
Qualifications & Skills
· Experience with audio/visual technology, livestreaming, and worship production preferred.
· Knowledge of sound systems, video production, presentation software, lighting, and streaming platforms.
· Ability to troubleshoot technical problems independently.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to work effectively with staff and volunteers.
· A willingness to support the mission and ministry of St. Marks United Methodist Church.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
