St. Mark Catholic School is searching for a full-time Instructional Assistant for our Resource/Special Education program. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's degree, an interest in teaching students with various learning abilities and challenges, and a desire to work for a Catholic school.
St. Mark is a mid-sized Catholic pre-school through grade 8 school in Vienna, Virginia. We have two classes per grade from Kindergarten through grade 8, with an average of 20-24 students per class. Grade level and content area teachers work closely to provide a challenging and supportive educational experience for students. As an Instructional Assistant, you will be an important part of the Student Support Services team, and will assist with providing in-class support and small group instruction to K-8 students with a variety of learning challenges. You will collaborate with classroom teachers to help differentiate, modify, and support existing curriculum and assist with testing accommodations.
The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:
- Strong proponent of inclusion
- Comfortable providing in-class support and pull-out instruction for small groups
- Able to collaborate with general education and special education teachers
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Experience as a special education aide or similar role preferred
- Experience working with children with a wide range of abilities
- Enjoy working with youth, and a desire to help students grow in faith, knowledge, and service
