DescriptionPosition Description:The Activities Coordinator supports the social, educational, and recreational life of residents at Martin Luther Tower by coordinating and facilitating a monthly activities calendar designed for adults aged 62 and over.
This is a Part-time, non-exempt position working approximately 20 hours weekly onsite and with some remote hours possible.
Working closely with the Director of Resident Services & Intergenerational Programs, this role leads resident groups, coordinates activities, and supports partnerships that bring youth and community members into the building for meaningful intergenerational engagement. This position plays an important role in reducing isolation, promoting wellness, and fostering a strong sense of community within the Martin Luther Tower residential environment.
Resident Activities & Program Facilitation (50%)
● Plan and facilitate weekly activities and small group events for residents aged 62 and over
● Lead social, recreational, educational, and wellness activities
● Support regular programming for residents such as leading games and discussion groups, and implementing creative activities and wellness programs
● Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for our resident population in order to encourage participation
● Assist in developing and maintaining the monthly Martin Luther Tower activities calendar
● Coordinate room reservations, supplies, and logistics for scheduled events
● Promote activities and encourage resident participation
● Coordinate and support intergenerational activities with local youth partners
● Work with visiting student groups to facilitate meaningful interactions with residents
● Support activities such as tech support sessions, discussion groups, and shared projects
● Track attendance and participation during planned activities
● Document activities, programs, and resident engagement as required
● Maintain organized program records and ensure documentation is regularly shared with and accessible to the Director of Resident Services & Intergenerational Programs
● Assist with gathering feedback to help improve programming and resident participation
● Assist with planning and coordinating resident outings and field trips
● Support event setup, participant coordination, and basic logistics
Required:
● High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework or training in recreation, social services, education, gerontology, or a related field is strongly preferred
● Experience working with older adults or facilitating group activities
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills
● Ability to plan and lead small group activities
● Organized, reliable, and able to work independently
● Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, and Gmail) Preferred:
● Associate or Bachelor’s degree in recreation, social work, gerontology,
education, or a related field
● Experience working in senior services, affordable housing, or community programming
● Experience facilitating intergenerational programs
● Bilingual or multilingual ability is a plus (Cantonese, Spanish, or Russian especially helpful)
While performing the duties of this job, employees may be required to sit or stand for long periods of time, talk, listen, write, operate a keyboard, have the visual acuity to read small print and view a computer monitor, reach to the top of a five-drawer filing cabinet and lift objects up to 30 lbs. The employee may be required to drive on behalf of the company. The employee is required to interact with residents, board members, staff, vendors, and other collaborators and visitors both indoors and outdoors.

The role involves frequent interaction with older adult residents, visiting youth groups, volunteers, and community partners. The environment is active and community-focused, requiring flexibility, patience, and the ability to facilitate group activities and events. Occasional support for off-site outings or field trips may also be required.
Compensation and Benefits: This role is offered at a hiring hourly wage of $28- $30 per hour. As the role is PT, it is not eligible for employer sponsored benefits aside from Paid Sick Leave as required by law.
