Responsibilities
- Teach four sections of science in the Middle and/or Upper School, with specific classes depending on candidate experience and staffing needs. Potential subjects include environmental science, chemistry, life science, biology, earth science, geology, astronomy, physical science, and others.
- Serve as an Advisor to a small group of boys
- Contribute to school programs by participating in the wilderness program, club program, or athletic program, depending on experience
- Participate in the character and leadership education program
- A mission-guided approach to teaching that aligns with St. Mark’s Statement of Purpose
- A collaborative, generous, enthusiasm for teaching and working in partnership with colleagues across the campus
- An understanding of the values of St. Mark’s and a desire to contribute to the community in ways that make the School the best version of itself
- A bachelor’s degree in a scientific field is required; a master’s degree in science or science education is preferred.
- Five or more years teaching science at the high school or advanced middle school level; independent school experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of varied teaching strategies and fluency with a variety of technology tools to advance learning
