Job Summary And Qualifications
Under the general direction of the Director, independently provides holistic, individualized care using the nursing process for patients routinely seen on the unit. Demonstrates clinical competency, nursing judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of patient care. Independently performs general and unit specific clinical skills. Contributes to the St. Mark’s Hospital Department of Nursing and the nursing profession in a positive manner.

In this role you will:
- Systematically and continually assesses the health and status of the patient assuring the applications of age specific standards prior to, during, and immediately after the procedure. Relates pertinent information.
- Care for Patients: In collaboration with the patient/family, and physician with regard to developmental, cultural and age specific differences, develops and implements patient care plans to include problems, goals, evaluations, and interventions.
- Demonstrate an understanding of, and adherence to, the Code of Conduct.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the occurrence reporting system and uses the system to report potential safety issues.
- Educate patient/family: Provides patient/family education with regard to assessing ability to learn, special learning needs, and evaluating effectiveness of teaching.
- Provide clear, concise and pertinent direction to the care team, based on resources, identified patient care needs, and nursing staff skill level. Documents critical incidents, uses time and supplies resourcefully, and functions as the charge person as needed.
- Manage information: Documents assessments, interventions and evaluations of care objectively and timely, using the computer technology required by the department. 8. Must successfully complete the hospital sedation analgesia module, or equivalent thereof, on an annual basis.
- Identify, initiate and participate in quality process improvement for the department utilizing an interdisciplinary approach to improve the combined efforts of the care team assuring a seamless process of care for the patient visit.
- Follow established policies and procedures to identify and reduce the risks of acquiring or transmitting infection by the use of personal protective measures.
- (RN) Registered Nurse
- Advanced Cardiac Life Spt, or ACLS Instructor, or Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- BSN preferred
- One or more years of higher acuity nursing experience and Echocardiology required
- Experience with Dobutamine Stress Echo, Transesophageal Echo and EKG required
