What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ministry Coordinator position at St. Luke United Methodist Church?
Purpose: St. Luke UMC is seeking a warm, organized, detail-oriented individual to help us live out the United Methodist mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world by nurturing a community that is a place to belong. This role provides administrative and ministry coordination leadership by organizing ministries, supporting volunteers, and working closely with the pastor and lay leaders to keep communication and church operations running smoothly.
What You’ll Do:
- Coordinate ministry schedules, the church-wide calendar, and all facility use to ensure ministries run smoothly and do not conflict.
- Support and empower laity by recruiting, scheduling, and organizing worship and ministry volunteers (ushers, greeters, liturgists, communion servers, and more).
- Collaborate with lay leaders and ministry teams to organize volunteers, communicate needs, and support their ongoing work.
- Prepare weekly newsletters and worship bulletins, ensuring clear, accurate, and timely communication across the church.
- Update the website, post events on Facebook, and create simple Canva graphics.
- Manage the church office, greet visitors with hospitality, and handle daily administrative tasks
- Track membership and attendance, maintain church records, and assist with reports required by the Mississippi Annual Conference.
- Assist with pastoral care tracking by monitoring hospitalizations, prayer requests, and homebound updates, ensuring the pastor receives timely information.
- Develop and refine administrative systems, office procedures, and ministry-support workflows that strengthen the daily functioning of the church.
- Maintain confidential files and sensitive information with discretion, integrity, and professionalism.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings and contribute to planning, communication, and coordination across ministries.
