Position Summary
The Middle School Spanish Teacher creates engaging language-learning experiences that develop
confident communicators, curious learners, and globally minded citizens. Through immersive
instruction, cultural exploration, and meaningful relationships, the teacher helps students build
proficiency in Spanish while fostering an appreciation for diverse cultures and perspectives.
The successful candidate understands that learning a language is about more than vocabulary and

Serve as a Trusted Advisor and Mentor
At St. Luke's, every Middle School teacher serves as an advisor and plays an important role in
supporting students through the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual journey of adolescence.
The Middle School Spanish Teacher will serve as an advisor to approximately 10–15 students and will:
- Build meaningful relationships rooted in trust, care, accountability, and encouragement.
- Serve as a consistent advocate and mentor for advisees.
- Support students in developing responsibility, resilience, self-awareness, and leadership.
- Monitor academic progress and student well-being.
- Facilitate advisory activities that promote belonging, character development, reflection, and
community.
- Partner with families and colleagues to support the whole child.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
- Degree in Spanish, World Languages, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Fluency in Spanish required.
- Experience teaching Spanish at the middle school level preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of best practices in language acquisition.
- Strong understanding of adolescent development and middle school education.
- Experience serving as an advisor, mentor, coach, or student advocate preferred.
- Experience in an independent school is a plus.
