Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Janitor/Custodian to maintain cleanliness and safety across our facilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for employees, students, and visitors. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Prior janitorial, custodial, or facilities maintenance experience is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and trash removal across all designated areas
- Maintain floors through buffing, stripping, sealing, and polishing to ensure a professional appearance
- Clean restrooms, kitchens, and common areas according to established standards
- Conduct industrial cleaning tasks such as carpet cleaning or specialized floor care as needed
- Assist with facilities maintenance tasks including minor repairs or reporting larger issues to management
- Ensure cleaning supplies are stocked and properly stored
- Follow safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment during all cleaning activities
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote safety and efficiency
Experience
- Prior janitorial or custodial experience is highly desirable
- Experience in commercial cleaning, industrial cleaning, or residential painting is a plus
- Skills in floor care including buffing and stripping are preferred
- Familiarity with facilities maintenance or porter duties is advantageous
- Previous experience with cleaning equipment such as buffers or extractors is beneficial
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to safety standards
