Job Summary
Position Overview: The IT Desktop Support Technician I provides entry-level technical and customer service support to County employees via telephone, email, and remote desktop tools. This position assists with troubleshooting hardware and software issues, supports audio/visual setup, and helps deploy equipment while maintaining a strong focus on customer service.
Essential Job Functions
Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
- Provide entry-level on-site and remote technical support for County users.
- Accurately categorize and collect user tickets and document solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic hardware/software issues and escalate when needed.
Hardware & Software Deployment:
- Deploy and install desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, and peripheral devices.
- Perform inventory tracking, asset management, and parts control.
- Assist in setup and support for AV equipment during meetings.
Customer Service & Documentation:
- Maintain a high level of customer service when assisting users.
- Enter knowledgebase documentation in Easy Vista.
- Dispatch higher-tier technicians as necessary.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The position requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. It involves frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and operating office equipment. Occasional lifting of objects up to 25 pounds may be necessary. The role also requires the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and may involve attending evening and weekend meetings as required. Prolonged computer use may pose a risk for eye strain or repetitive motion injuries
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND WORK HAZARDS: The work environment is primarily office-based, with occasional field visits to various sites. Employees may be exposed to typical office conditions, including computers, printers, and office equipment. During site visits or meetings, there may be occasional exposure to outdoor environments. The role may involve stress due to project deadlines, public interactions, and complex problem-solving. Prolonged computer use can also lead to eye strain and repetitive motion injuries.

Qualifications
Candidates should possess a solid foundational background that demonstrates their ability to engage with the responsibilities of the role effectively.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of technical support experience.
- Equivalent training, certifications, or experience may be considered in place of preferred degree.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware/software issues.
- Willingness to learn and adopt new technologies and procedures under supervision.
- Must be available during emergencies and natural disasters on short notice.
- This position may require evening and weekend work, sometimes with little advanced notice.
- Must have a valid Florida driver’s license and maintain a good driving record or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

Driving Position – Operating County vehicles and/or equipment is a primary function of this position.
