Job Description – General Maintenance Worker (part-time)
Purpose:
The General Maintenance Worker performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks to ensure the proper maintenance, repair, and safe operation of St. Lucas UCC facilities and equipment. This position supports daily operations by addressing maintenance requests, performing preventive maintenance, and assisting with basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and groundskeeping as needed. The technician works independently to maintain a clean, functional, and safe environment for staff, students, and visitors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee maintenance and/or perform basic maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of the building, equipment, and systems (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical,) fixtures, carpentry, painting, plastering, dry wall patching, and repair.
- Conduct regular inspections and create preventive maintenance schedules, and provide recommendations to Building and Grounds as to special repairs or replacements.
- Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance projects, including HVAC system repairs or replacements, electrical or plumbing contractors, snow and ice removal, locksmiths, window washers, and janitorial service providers.
- Oversee and coordinate with landscaping, parking lots, signage, and exterior maintenance contractors employed by the church.
- Coordinate event setup and teardown for worship services, weddings, funerals, and community events, using volunteers or additional hired personnel.
- Maintain safety and comply with annual inspections for fire, health, and building codes, including coordination with the business office.
- Opening and closing of the building, including the preschool, and maintaining building security.
Education and Experience:
- *High School diploma or GED, technical or trade certification preferred
- 5-7 years of experience in facilities management in building maintenance, construction of facilities, or related field
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to complete assigned tasks without constant supervision
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Supports ministry teams by ensuring facilities meet their functional needs
Compensation:
- The starting rate for this position is $20/hour; Non-exempt
- Subject to verified experience and education
- Start date: No later than January 5, 2026
- Position to remain posted until filled
