REPORTS TO: Facilities Director
STATUS: Temporary; Part-Time or Full-Time options available
DURATION: Approximately 3–6 months (Subject to permanent hire timeline)
COMPENSATION: $25.00 – $28.00 per hour
POSITION SUMMARY: In conjunction with the Facilities team, the Temporary Facilities Coordinator ensures the smooth, day-to-day operational support of historic Powell Hall and the Jack C. Taylor Music Center. This pivotal role focuses on immediate "boots-on-the-ground" needs, serving as a primary point of contact for safety, vendor oversight, and event support. The goal is to maintain a high standard of safety and comfort for all SLSO constituencies, including patrons, musicians, and staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safety & Emergency Response: Maintain a thorough understanding of Powell Hall’s emergency evacuation and "shelter-in-place" procedures. Act as a key point of contact during fire alarms, power outages, or medical emergencies, investigating alarms and taking immediate corrective action or escalating as required.
- Event Support: Serve as the primary facilities point-of-person for public performances and rehearsals. This includes managing lobby lighting and monitoring HVAC systems to ensure optimum performer and patron comfort.
- Vendor Oversight: Supervise 3rd-party custodial and security staff during shifts to ensure scope-of-work compliance and responsiveness to immediate service requests.
- Facility Maintenance: Perform routine "walk-throughs" to identify and address immediate safety or aesthetic issues. Manage basic exterior upkeep, including weeding and trash removal, to ensure a positive first impression.
- Administrative & Technical Support: Respond to urgent facility needs or equipment malfunctions (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) using basic tools or coordinating with the Facilities Engineer. Use existing templates to generate schedules, check requests, and event documents.
- Collaboration: Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that enhances collaboration with musicians, guest artists, and staff.
