St. Louis County Counselor's office seeks an Attorney I to join their team. This position is responsible for Municipal Court dockets and may require working night dockets approximately twice a week. The St. Louis County Municipal Courts’ evening dockets are located in North and South County. Other duties may include litigation, contract drafting and review, legal research and writing, advising employees, officials, and boards/commissions throughout the County and other miscellaneous duties.

Examples of Duties
Prosecutes ordinance violations
Provides legal advice, guidance and opinions to County employees, officials and boards/commission to ensure compliance and adherence to laws
- May perform legal work related to administrative, transactional, litigation, legislative and other matters handled by the County Counselor’s Office
Minimum Qualifications
- Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and current licensure as an attorney by the Missouri Bar Association.

St. Louis County offers its employees many excellent benefits with paid medical insurance, 20 days of PTO (paid time off) the first year and increasing with seniority, and 11-12 paid holidays. Employees hired for full time employment will participate in the St. Louis County retirement plan where they contribute 4% of their salary to the defined benefit plan with vesting after 7 years. In addition to these benefits, as of January 1, 2023, St. Louis County approved up to 480 hours of paid parental leave for eligible employees welcoming new children, either by birth or adoption. The employee can also take up to 80 hours of leave for prenatal care and up to 80 hours for care of the child within the first year.
