What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full Time Occupational Therapist position at St. Jude's Nursing Home?
We are currently looking for a dedicated and compassionate Full Time Occupational Therapist for our St. Margaret's Nursing Home and St. Jude's location to provide high quality care in our skilled nursing facility. Must be board certified and previous nursing home experience is preferred.
Gulf South Therapy is an in-house Therapy Company at St. Margaret's at Mercy Nursing Home in Mid City and St. Jude's Rehab Center in New Orleans. We provide quality, patient centered rehabilitation therapy to both short-term and long-term residents. Our dedicated team of Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapists work closely with families and interdisciplinary teams to support the progress and quality of life for our patients.

Duties
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of clients’ physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities to identify their unique needs and challenges.
- Design tailored occupational therapy programs that focus on improving motor skills, coordination, sensory processing, and daily living activities.
- Implement engaging therapeutic activities that motivate clients to participate actively in their rehabilitation process.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams—including physicians, nurses, speech therapists, and social workers—to ensure cohesive care plans.
- Educate clients and their families on strategies to enhance independence at home, work, or school environments.
- Monitor progress regularly, adjusting treatment plans to maximize outcomes and ensure continuous improvement.
- Maintain detailed documentation of assessments, interventions, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with healthcare standards.
Pay: From $45.00 per hour
