Preschool Assistant Teacher

Responsibilities:

• On campus from 7:45am-3:15pm
• Provide timely communication to supervisor regarding absences or tardiness
• Maintain a safe and supportive environment for young children
• Effectively communicate with all staff (including their lead teacher) and parents
• Provide a solution-orientated positive approach
• Support lead teacher with preferred classroom management and discipline strategies
• Assist lead teacher with carrying out lesson plans
• Interact and engage with the children to support play, exploration, and learning
• Engage students in activities that develop self-esteem and social skills
• Follow set schedules and routines
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with students and parents
• Lead and supervise children during lunch and recess
• Maintain the health and safety of all students, i.e. cleaning classroom materials and spaces
• Meet the individual needs of the children
• Communicate appropriately and professionally with parents and fellow staff
• Attend faculty meetings as requested by supervisor
• Attend Catholic Schools Weeks mass and open house on 1/24/2024

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree preferably in child development or early childhood education, or the equivalent
• Previous experience in childcare, teaching, or other related fields
• Passionate about educating young children
• Ability to build rapport with children
• Positive and patient demeanor
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Able to provide 3 references
• Pass a background check/fingerprint clearance
• Pass a physical examination with a negative TB test, COVID vaccination preferred as well
• Be able to lift 20 lbs., sit on the floor, crouch down to be eye level with children, etc.
• Current Mandated Reporter Training, CPR Training, VIRTUS, & other training certificates as required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.89 - $18.90 per hour
