Qualifications
Required: Must possess a substitute or teaching certificate issued by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Individuals will be required to have one of the following to obtain a Substitute Certificate:
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Salary Schedule: Per-Approved Educational Support Salary Schedule
Direct Report: Building Principal
Terms of Employment: 9 Month (174 day)
Eligible for emergency telework: With Supervisor approval
Purpose: To enable each child to pursue their education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
Essential Job Functions
District employees shall conduct themselves in a professional manner and shall exhibit and extend such professional conduct appropriate for the circumstances to those with whom they come into contact, both internally and externally during the performance of their duties. Examples of professional conduct include, but are not limited to, being communicative, informative, fair, honest, and respectful.

- Associates Degree or higher (need official transcripts for file)
- 36 college credit hours (need official transcripts for file)
- Completed Missouri’s 20-hour online substitute training program

- Attend work in a regular, reliable and punctual manner.
- To "telework" when requested by the District.
- Reports to the building principal or school secretary upon arrival at the school building.
- Review with the principal, department head, team leader, or building secretary all plans, and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
- Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
- Teaches the lesson as planned by the classroom teacher.
- Consults as appropriate with the building principal, department head, or team leader before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified by the absent classroom teacher.
- Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in the class and during lunch and recess periods.
- Reports in writing on the day’s activities at the conclusion of each teaching day.
- Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
- Other duties assigned.
