Criminal Justice Adjunct Instructor

Course: Criminal Courts
In Person/On Campus - Monday and Wednesday 11:10am-12:35pm
Knowledge of function and structure of criminal courts, at the state and federal level, and specialized courts in the US, including juvenile, drug, mental health, domestic violence, veteran and reentry. Understanding of the role and performance of key players throughout all stages of the trial process. Proficiency in Constitutional and statutory rights of both defendants and victims. Awareness of contemporary challenges to courts such as technology, and diversion.
Court experience required.
Responsibilities include:
- Teach assigned course in the field of expertise
- Develop and deliver engaging and interactive classroom lectures and discussions
- Prepare course materials, including syllabi, handouts, and assignments
- Assess student performance through exams, papers, projects, and other forms of evaluation
- Provide timely feedback and grades to students
- Maintain regular office hours to provide academic support and guidance to students
- Stay updated with current trends and advancements in the field of expertise
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum and instructional methods
Experience:
- J.D., Master's or doctoral degree in the relevant field of expertise
- Court experience required
- Previous teaching experience preferred
- Strong knowledge and expertise in the subject matter
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey concepts
- Passion for education and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment
