Job Description

St. Joseph’s Health is seeking a skilled, compassionate, and collaborative Dermatologist to join our growing physician team. This opportunity is ideal for a physician committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered dermatologic care while working within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

The Dermatologist will provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of a broad range of dermatologic conditions. The physician will collaborate with specialists across St. Joseph’s Health to ensure coordinated care for patients with both routine and complex skin conditions.

Position Highlights

• Annual Base Compensation: $366,780
• Provide comprehensive medical and procedural dermatology services
• Diagnose and manage routine and complex dermatologic conditions
• Perform skin biopsies, excisions, and other dermatologic procedures
• Evaluate and treat skin cancers and other dermatologic diseases
• Provide inpatient dermatology consultations as needed
• Collaborate with Oncology, Rheumatology, Surgery, Pathology, and other specialties
• Participate in quality improvement, community education, and hospital initiatives

Responsibilities

The Dermatologist will provide appropriate care within the scope of the physician’s license and privileges, including but not limited to:

• Maintain established standards of care in the delivery of dermatologic services.
• Obtain comprehensive patient histories and document findings in a complete and systematic manner.
• Perform appropriate physical examinations and assessments to diagnose routine and complex dermatologic conditions.
• Order, perform, and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory testing.
• Evaluate and manage complex skin diseases and perform skin biopsies and other diagnostic procedures as clinically indicated.
• Prescribe appropriate medical therapies, including topical and systemic treatments.
• Educate patients regarding skincare, sun protection, disease prevention, treatment plans, and ongoing skin health.
• Recognize dermatologic manifestations that may indicate underlying systemic or internal disease and coordinate appropriate specialty care.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including oncologists, rheumatologists, surgeons, pathologists, and other specialists, in the management of complex conditions.
• Perform dermatologic procedures and surgeries, including lesion and mole removal, excisions of skin cancers, and other procedures within the physician’s scope of practice and clinical privileges.
• Provide light-based therapies and cosmetic or non-invasive dermatologic treatments, including injectables such as botulinum toxin and dermal fillers, as appropriate.
• Provide dermatologic consultations for hospitalized patients, including patients in intensive care, oncology, and other inpatient units, as needed.
• Conduct appropriate patient follow-up to ensure continuity and quality of care.
• Participate in quality improvement, quality assurance, patient safety, and other clinical initiatives.
• Participate in night and weekend coverage as scheduled and in proportion to FTE status.
• Support the growth of the practice through physician-to-physician outreach, community education, community service, and other appropriate initiatives.
• Maintain and promote established standards for health promotion, disease prevention, and health maintenance.
• Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulatory requirements, including DNV standards.
• Provide timely, professional, and compassionate communication with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team.
• Provide compassionate and ethical care to all patients, including clinic and underserved patient populations.
• Participate with managed care plans accepted by St. Joseph’s Health, as applicable.
• Complete and sign clinical documentation within established organizational timeframes.
• Utilize and support St. Joseph’s Health electronic health records and other automated systems as required.
• Participate in community education, scientific programs, hospital committees, and other organizational initiatives as assigned by department or hospital leadership.
  
  

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
• Completion of an accredited Dermatology residency program
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Dermatology
• Eligible for or currently holding an unrestricted New Jersey medical license
• Eligible for medical staff appointment and clinical privileges at St. Joseph’s Health
• Strong clinical, diagnostic, procedural, and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment
