The Director of Institutional Advancement is the school’s lead development and advancement officer, reporting directly to the Principal. The director provides strategic direction and management for the development and implementation of comprehensive advancement, marketing, and enrollment efforts with short and long-range goals and objectives. The director is responsible for securing the financial resources necessary to sustain the school’s mission by focusing on major gifts, grant acquisitions, capital and annual fundraising, communications and events, and alumni relations. The director is a full-time, 12- month, exempt position.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead capital and annual fund campaigns and special events fundraising. 
  • Lead and manage existing Pennsylvania tax credit programs-EITC, OSTC, and BLOCS.
  • Guide the school toward a focused, achievable fundraising portfolio to expand annual support of school operations and address the needs of growing student enrollment.
  • Leads strategic planning and communication to support collaborative advancement initiatives, ensuring seamless integration with admissions.
  • Strengthen relationships across families, alumni, grandparents, staff, and community partners with a focus on deepening donor relationships. 
  • Identify and pursue grant opportunities by coordinating the administration of the grant cycle from application to closing, facilitating efforts to ensure that grant requirements are met.
  • A commitment to develop written plans, proposals, reports, and other donor communications with regular updates on prospect management, fundraising, grant results.
  • Document donor contacts in donor management software following established protocols. 
  • Be present at events/activities at school and in the community to establish relationships.
  • Provides leadership support to the Board of Directors, as well as major fundraising events.
  • Protects and promotes the school brand, mission, and message.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Public Relations, and/or Marketing related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in planning and advancement programs (major gifts, donor development, planned gifts and fundraising experience), preferably in a nonprofit or educational setting as a supervisor or manager.
  • Proficiency with donor management software (Raiser’s Edge NXT) and strong working knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; willingness and ability to learn additional applications as needed including PA tax credit portals.
  • Experience constructing and implementing long-term strategic plans.
  • Exceptional communicator with both written and verbal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail, impeccable follow-up skills, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities, and work independently as a collaborator.
  • Agreement to sign a confidentiality/non-disclosure form regarding pertaining to any information of a sensitive nature that may be shared as a result of access to information.
  • According to both State and Diocesan requirements, all employees must complete Criminal Record, Child Abuse, and FBI clearances with the school. In addition, new employees must complete the Mandated Reporting training and a Protecting God’s Children session. In accordance with Diocesan policy, Payroll will not authorize a paycheck until these clearances are on file with the school.


Other Requirements 

  • Attendance and assistance with some evening or weekend events will be required. 
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee may occasionally be required to lift or carry items and objects of at least 20 pounds.
