What are the responsibilities and job description for the BILINGUAL EARLY ON SERVICE COORDINATOR position at St. Joseph County ISD?

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Minimum of two years of experience in the field of counseling, early childhood, home based case management, nursing or social work.
  2. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field such as counseling, early childhood education, family services, psychology, social welfare or social work.
  3. Experience and education in infant and toddler programming preferred.
  4. Interpersonal skills essential for effective communication with families and agency personnel.
  5. Fluent in English and Spanish.
  6. Ability to work independently within management guidelines.
  7. Working knowledge of computers (proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet programs such as Word and Excel).
  8. Responsibility of employee to obtain and maintain all training(s), certificate(s), approval(s), etc. and provide documentation to the business office before expiration date of said document(s).
  9. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  10. Required to have a physical presence at the designated job site each scheduled work day.
  11. Must have regular and reliable job attendance, performance, and the physical ability to do the job.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBLITIES:

 

  1. Manage a caseload of Early On families.
  2. Determine a child’s eligibility for Early On and prepare a professional report of findings.
  3. Use employer selected tools, prepare comprehensive screening of the child’s family, developmental and social history and recommend appropriate educational and community services and/or referrals.
  4. Conduct hearing, and vision screenings per Early On program guidelines.
  5. Prepare required reports and provide necessary information accurately and punctually.
  6. Coordinate services for young children in St. Joseph County who have developmental delays.
  7. Prepare for and participate in teaming meetings.
  8. Assist families with referrals for emergency family support and resources available throughout the county.
  9. Conduct regularly scheduled home visits for Early On.
  10. Support families and children before, during, and after transitions at program enrollment and exit.
  11. Provide child development information, parenting information and community resources to enrolled families.
  12. Complete and maintain appropriate paperwork for Early On to meet Michigan Department of Education and ISD requirements.
  13. Translate materials and documents.
  14. Facilitate bilingual meetings with individual and family educational support plans. Such as referrals and evaluations.  Process IFSP’s in Spanish when needed.
  15. Develop an appropriate schedule.
  16. Maintain infant, child and adult CPR/AED and first aid certification.
  17. Maintain appropriate communication log, records and reports regarding evaluations and contact with children, their families and community partners.
  18. Develop and nurture community relationships with partner agencies serving young children with special needs.
  19. Communicate effectively with other staff, community partners and administration.
  20. Participate in professional development activities as appropriate and/or requested by the supervisor.
  21. Provide personal transportation to homes and meetings throughout the county.
  22. Complete all other duties as assigned by the St. Joseph County ISD Administration.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:   260 day position. Some evenings and weekends required.  Salary and

                                                        Conditions of employment are determined by the Board of Education.

 

Salary : $39,769 - $47,725
