Position Summary The Director of Faith Formation oversees the design, implementation, and evaluation of the parish catechetical program. This position provides leadership to support lifelong faith formation for children, youth, and families, fostering spiritual growth, Christian living, ministry, and outreach within the parish community in collaboration with the pastor and parish staff.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership
- Design, implement, and evaluate parish faith formation programs in alignment with the National Catechetical Directory, Archdiocesan guidelines, and parish needs.
- Collaborate with the pastor to articulate and implement a vision for parish faith formation.
- Develop innovative approaches to support lifelong faith formation for children, youth, and families.
- Direct and manage family faith formation programs that engage the whole family and support parents as primary faith educators.
- Coordinate sacramental preparation, liturgical celebrations, and prayer experiences connected to formation programs.
- Maintain accurate sacramental records and update parish faith formation databases.
- Coordinate the parish OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) process and the Adult Confirmation program.
- Regularly evaluate programs and adjust schedules, materials, and resources as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Education, or a related theological field, or a Bachelor’s degree in Education or Educational Administration with faith formation experience.
- Strong knowledge of Catholic theology and catechetical ministry.
- Experience in program development, leadership, and volunteer supervision.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively, prioritize responsibilities, and maintain confidentiality.
