Join our dedicated team as a Full-Time Direct Support Professional in an adult day program (ODP ATF 2380) , working Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate, personalized support to adults with developmental disabilities, ensuring they receive the highest quality care in a safe and nurturing environment. Your energy and commitment will empower individuals to achieve greater independence and enhance their quality of life. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day while working in a supportive and dynamic team setting. Providing daily transportation using the program van is required.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, promoting dignity and independence
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols and document all medication administration on paper.
- Support individuals with mobility using assistive devices to ensure safety during transfers
- Support lunch time aligned with dietary needs and assist individuals during meal times to foster social engagement
- Implement behavior management techniques tailored to individual needs, especially for individuals with behavioral challenges.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties and adhering to infection control standards
- Document incidents, observations, and care activities thoroughly in compliance with organizational policies
- Drive individuals when necessary for community outings, ensuring safety and punctuality.
Requirements
- Prior experience in supporting adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities settings is preferred
- Knowledge of intellectual disabilities/ autism, behavioral support best practices
- Certification or training in first aid and CPR is required; ongoing training in medication administration is required.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral challenges is advantageous
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while maintaining a positive attitude
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record for transportation duties if applicable
- Physical ability to perform caregiving tasks including lifting, transferring, and standing for extended periods
