Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will work under the supervision of licensed physical therapists to provide high-quality patient care in a skilled nursing facilities with a geriatric population. Your expertise in physical therapy practices will contribute significantly to the rehabilitation and recovery of our patients. Candidates must be licensed to work as a physical therapy assistant in NYS. This is a great opportunity for a new or recent graduate of an appropriate physical therapy assistant program!
Duties
- Assist physical therapists in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Provide direct patient care, including administering therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and modalities as prescribed.
- Monitor patient progress and report any changes or concerns to the supervising therapist.
- Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, home exercises, and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient treatments and progress in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Utilize knowledge of physiology to assess patient needs and adjust treatments accordingly.
- Apply specialized techniques such as trigger point therapy when appropriate.
Experience
- Previous experience in inpatient settings or skilled nursing facilities is preferred.
- Experience working with the geriatric population is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of physical therapy principles and practices.
- Knowledge of discharge planning processes to facilitate smooth transitions for patients post-treatment.
