Position Summary
The Facilities Director is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of all buildings, grounds, equipment, and mechanical/electrical systems, ensuring full compliance with local, state, and OSHA regulations. This position works closely with the Facilities Operations Supervisor to train, direct, and support departmental staff.
The Director ensures the team receives the necessary training, tools, and leadership to perform effectively. The role requires up-to-date knowledge of facility systems, operational standards, best practices, and modern maintenance techniques. Strong leadership, organizational management, and performance evaluation skills are essential.
Effective communication with both leadership and staff is vital. Essential Functions
- Plan, schedule, and direct maintenance programs for grounds, buildings, and equipment.
- Manage maintenance requests, billing, and related communications.
- Assign work activities and projects, ensuring timely execution.
- Provide time and material estimates for tasks.
- Recommend equipment and supply purchases.
- Advise on budget matters related to maintenance and housekeeping.
- Develop and oversee regular inspections to identify maintenance needs.
- Assist in investigations of property and liability incidents.
- Maintain inventory for maintenance, housekeeping, and grounds operations.
- Participate in hiring, training, and evaluating facilities staff.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Conduct in-service training for staff.
- Manage emergency repairs, including outside of normal hours.
- Schedule employees, approve time off, and ensure proper coverage.
- Collaborate with the Facilities Operations Supervisor on day-to-day operations.

Skills & Abilities
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 4 years of management experience.
- Minimum 7 years of facilities maintenance experience.
Computer Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
- Experience with Oracle Visual (ERP) is a plus.
