Position Summary
A**Naval Shipboard Joiner**(often a Builder (BU) or Sheetmetal Worker) fabricates, installs, and repairs wooden/composite interiors like bulkheads, lockers, bunks, and cabinetry, using blueprints and various tools for precise, durable finishes in tight spaces, ensuring compliance with strict maritime standards, contributing to ship habitability and functionality. Key duties involve reading plans, cutting/fitting materials (wood, laminates, metals), installing insulation, flooring, and fixtures, plus repair work, requiring strong woodworking skills and teamwork.

: A broad role including rough/ finish carpentry, cabinetry, concrete work and interior finish.
Sheetmetal Worker
Often performs joiner work, fabricating ducting, lockers, and non- structural bulkheads.

Key Responsibilities And Duties
- Fabrication and Installation**: Build and install non-structural walls (bulkheads), ceilings, doors, lockers, bunks, galleys, and furniture.
- Material Handling**: Work with wood, laminates, composites, stainless steel, and insulation.
- Blueprint Interpretation**: Read and follow complex technical drawings and blueprints.
- Woodworking**: Measure, cut, shape, and finish materials using hand and power tools (saws, sanders, routers).
- Repair and Maintenance**: Repair damaged woodwork, replace components, and maintain existing installations.
- Finishing**: Apply seals, coatings, and install hardware, flooring, and carpeting.
- Collaboration**: Work with electricians, plumbers, and other trades.
- Safety:**Adhere to strict maritime safety regulations and work in confined spaces.
