St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a Project Manager for our well established Public Works Department located in beautiful St. Augustine, Florida.St. Johns County residents enjoy a healthy quality of life with many perks including one of the top rated public school system in the State of Florida, miles of beach shoreline, peaceful estuary scenery of the St. Johns River, long established agriculture and equestrian scene, and the nation’s oldest city, historic St. Augustine. In 2019 St. Johns County was ranked the 10th fastest growing county in the United States showcasing that there is truly something for everyone in St. Johns County!The St. Johns County Public Works Department maintains, preserves and protects the infrastructure resources of the County in the most efficient and effective manner possible. Public Works is made up of Engineering Services, Fleet Maintenance, and Road and Bridge.Employees work in a team oriented environment in a variety of divisions with two common goals in mind: to provide the best services to our citizens and to provide the best maintained infrastructure in North Florida.The newly selected Project Manager will manage assigned engineering capital projects related to roadway design and construction, vertical design and construction, storm water and drainage, culvert replacements, sidewalks, pavement management and water quality from concept through construction.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The ideal Project Manager candidate must possess St. Johns County’s core values of compassion, innovation, and trustworthiness and must work well in a collaborative team environment. Some of the specific tasks include but are not limited to: Manages capital projects; reviews and interprets studies, plans, reports, construction drawings and specifications for compliance with county standards; reviews project cost estimates.Coordinates and reviews utility designs and adjustments.Develops, reviews and processes scopes of work assessments, designs, change orders, requests for payments, design acceptance, permit compliance, and final acceptance.Coordinates activities with other county departments.Conducts reviews of plans, specifications and studies; communicates with consultants concerning review findings and recommended or necessary revisions.Researches, prepares, monitors, and manages grant applications and grant funded projects.Develops requests for proposals and qualifications.Conducts public meetings and makes presentations concerning present and future projects.Coordinates the acquisition of property and easements through the Land Management Department.Coordinates project records and documentation management.Coordinates recovery efforts and documentation following emergencies and disaster events.
