What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard position at St. John The Baptist Parish Government?
DUTIES: Provide lifesaving skills during emergency matters at pool, serves as a monitor of pool and pool area during operating hours. Provide attendants with the pool safety regulations; enforce pool safety regulations during operating hours; maintain a clean pool and pool area; report all issues to Head Lifeguard, Parks & Recreation Director (or designee). QUALIFICATIONS: Must be:
• At least fifteen (15) years old at time of hire,
• Physically fit and in good general health, and
• Able to swim 300 yards continuously, swim 20 yards then surface dive 7-10 feet to retrieve 10-pound object then return to surface within 100 seconds, tread water (legs only) for 2 minutes.
Will be required to complete lifeguard certification course or provide proof of current lifeguard certification through American Red Cross of other accredited certifying agency.
