What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse Educator position at St. John's Senior Servi?
The Nurse Educator is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of educational programs; programs will utilize and enhance evidence based practice, support all learning styles and foster empowerment and collaboration of learning, and incorporating St. John’s brand characteristics.
Qualifications & Education Required: What is required to be successful on the job?
- Current New York State Registered Nursing License required
- Current CPR certification required
- MSN degree preferred
- Minimum of 1 year in education preferred
- Minimum of 1 year Long Term Care experience preferred
- Experience with Point Click Care EMR perferred
- Good organizational, leadership and communication and critical thinking skills
- Proficient computer skills required, such as the use of Microsoft word, excel, power point and teams

Position Responsibilities: What will I be doing to make an impact?
- Provide the interface for communication of elder care needs with members of other disciplines, utilizing an in-depth knowledge base to ensure comprehensive follow through on problems
- Work collaboratively with Nurse Leaders to assess nursing education needs
- Identify and access the expertise of internal and external specialists to enhance nursing specific learning opportunities for employees
- Foster empowerment and collaboration of learning for the nursing department
- Participate in staff and interdisciplinary meetings
- Arrange for or provide mandatory training to all St. John’s Home employees during new employee orientation and annually
- Interact with all staff in a manner that is respectful and collaborative
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, positivity, with a team-oriented approach that is focuses on exceptional customer service
Additional Responsibilities:
- Serve as Clinical Resource Nurse to nursing staff.
- In collaboration with Nurse Leaders will identify educational needs of nursing staff
- Maintain frequent contact with Nurse Leaders regarding clinical issues on their units, preferably daily in person, by phone or via email
- Assist Nurse Leaders as needed in accessing additional resources e.g. equipment, supplies, training, etc.
- Perform other duties as required or necessary
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting, standing, walking, light to moderate lifting and bending. Occasional moderate to heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs).

- May be exposed to infections, odors, and psychosocial behaviors
