Position Summary: The maintenance mechanic will perform preventative maintenance and repairs to the facility and equipment therein, in accordance with applicable codes, manufacturer’s specifications and policies of St. John’s Home.
- Full time (37.5 - 40 hours)
- Tuesday – Saturday, 6 am – 2:30 pm

Qualifications & Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent certificate of completion required
- Three years experience with machine repair, facility maintenance or related technical education required
- Valid and clean NYS driver’s license required
- Current City of Rochester stationary engineers license preferred
- Current NYS Category 7G pesticide technician or application certification preferred
- Current Boiler certification preferred

Position Competencies:
- Ability to trouble shoot and make repairs on most facility equipment
- Ensure the facility is safe and functional with routine maintenance and emergency repairs
- Experience with light electrical work, light plumbing, basic welding
- Prefer knowledge of boilers, HVAC, refrigeration
- Ability to interact with residents and understand their needs
Position Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance, monitoring, testing, refining, tuning and repair to the facility and any equipment within or utilized by the facility.
- Collaborate with facilities Director on the needs of the facility.
- Carry out preventative maintenance duties according to schedule.
- Keep daily records of work orders completed and/or duties performed to be submitted to mentor.
- Order part and materials and control inventory.
- Ability to visually inspect facilities, identify health, safety and general disrepair and initiate and complete all work.
- Clear walks and parking areas of snow and ice, when needed
- May be required to be on-call and/or respond to emergency situations during off hours.
- Assist with other duties as needed that support the core team to fulfill St. John’s mission, vision and values.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing, bending, ladder climbing, lifting up to 130 lbs. and pushing, pulling or rolling up 230 lbs.
