We are seeking a passionate and capable Middle School Social Studies Teacher (history and civics) to join our team. The ideal candidate will cultivate a strong classroom culture, deliver curriculum tailored to student needs, guide students toward academic ownership, and support meaningful growth. - Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the school curriculum, regularly assessing and adjusting instruction to meet individual student needs.
- This role may also require the candidate to serve as a homeroom teacher, lead electives, facilitate a middle school discipleship group, and teach additional courses as aligned with the candidate’s strengths and the overall teaching schedule.
- Foster a strong, healthy, and inclusive classroom culture that supports faith development, social-emotional growth, and academic success.
- Maintain a classroom culture consistent with Love and Logic principles.
- Engage effectively with parents, caregivers, and the school community, providing updates on student progress and participating in school events.
- Collaborate with colleagues to create a cohesive and effective learning environment.
- Attend staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions as required.
- Participate in school-wide events, including parent-teacher conferences, open houses, and extracurricular activities.
- Regular and active participation in a Christian church; preference for St. John’s Church members.
- Commitment to a Christian worldview and lifestyle; willingness to uphold the St. John’s Church and School Statement of Faith and Marriage Values.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Experience teaching in a Christian school or familiarity with Lutheran theology is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Middle School Education, or a related field.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for middle school children.
- Colorado teacher certification preferred; willingness to pursue licensing within two years acceptable.
- Willingness to undergo CBI/FBI background checks before employment.
- Commitment to uphold the St. John’s School Adult Code of Conduct with Minors.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States (St. John’s does not sponsor visas).
- Salary: Up to $50,000 per year (commensurate with experience and qualifications).
- Health insurance and retirement plan.
- Significant tuition credit (up to $22,000 annually) for children of St. John’s Church members.
- Full months off in June and July, plus additional school-year breaks.
